End of Year Reflections – 2021

End of Year Reflections – 2021

From the desk of Abby Keyton, PT, DPT; CEO, Founder:

I have spent the better part of December reflecting on this past year.  The highs, the lows and everything in between.  I try to remain a person that views things through rose-colored glasses, and I am going to remain that way as I reflect on this past year.

2021 was a difficult year for many of us as we continued on the roller coaster of the COVID-19 pandemic.  The effects have been felt both professionally and personally with continued difficult news and events.  Professionally, the therapy world has faced challenges with staffing from both difficulty recruiting as well as increased sick leave of current employees.  We have continued to problem solve and adapt to both rising and falling patient volumes to ensure business stability as well as employee and patient safety.  On top of this, we have also all been faced with difficult and emotional decisions and situations on a personal level all year long.

So what is the rose-colored glasses perspective for 2021?  It is seeing my colleagues continue to show up each day and take on whatever comes at them.  It is having a new sense of security as a business owner and executive knowing that our businesses have continued to be stable while facing immeasurable challenges.  The increased emotions and anxieties of the past year have caused me to continuously evaluate what is making me feel fulfilled and joyful versus what is contributing to negative feelings.  This has led to making shifts in both my professional and personal life which are leading me toward a greater sense of joy, enthusiasm, and fulfillment.
